Buffalo Gap is home to a
large museum of West Texas artifacts that date back to the early 19th
century. Many complete buildings have been moved to Buffalo Gap from
other parts of Texas to place on display.
Abilene State Park is situated by Lake Abilene. Here you can find
fishing, swimming, hiking, camping and picnic facilities. Fish that
can be caught in this lake include largemouth bass and white crappie
as well as channel and blue catfish. A grove of about 4,000 native
pecan trees that is now a popular picnic spot was once a campground
for the Comanche Indians.
The Grace Museum hosts three museums in what was once the Grace Hotel
- an art museum, history museum and children's museum. The history
museum features an authentic look into life in Abilene from 1910 to
1948. The art museum not only has an interactive "sound sculpture" by
artist and musician Edward Weiss but also provides a destination for

traveling exhibits. Finally, the
children's museum is a great place to play and learn in numerous
interactive displays.
